Definitely been neglecting the site recently. Zach’s been doing an awesome job keeping it alive even though he’s probably busiest of all. That’s why I’ve begun writing the “Ballad of Zach.”
I’ve been having some reservations about my fanfic. Although I have a pretty clear idea where to take the story I fear that I’m not as good a guitarist as Cloud, so I’m pretty self conscious being such a fan of the world. I’d like to find a way to keep posting music and to keep posting fanfic chapters however.
With the exception of “Survival Quest,” starring the underrated dermot mulroney haven’t watched too much to review. Although I have put Halo Legends on the queue so hopefully I’ll have a review up shortly although the word on the street is that it’s hit and miss.

Halo Legends comes tonight for me! I’ll have to check out Survival Quest. Is there some Dermot Mulroney magnum opus we should all be watching? Or is Survival Quest it?
I remember in 4th or 5th grade we had this in school performance about “Bar-ton the Energy Waster.” There was a kid in our class whose last name was Barton and we mocked him pretty cruelly for a few days about him being an energy waster to the point where he started to cry. I think it was one of my “Hey Bar-ton!”‘s that pushed him over the edge, and I felt so bad about it that I made up a song that made fun of myself so that he could sing it to get back at me. Can’t remember it now, though — maybe not such a great story without the song to accompany it. That was sort of a Ballad of Zach.

zach, I can’t believe you did that to that kid, at least you made up the song. did you actually get to the point of teaching him the song?
I don’t know if there’s a dermot mulroney magnum opus and I have to confess I’m a neophyte. I’ll just see him something or whatever and go like, “oh yeah, dermot mulroney.” but I’d recommend survival quest, it’s one of those wilderness guide movies. lance henrikssen plays a survival guide and dm wears one of those really light blue denim shirts

Yeah, I did teach him the song. As I recall I came up with it on the spot. I feel pretty bad about it now, but it was 4th/5th grade, everybody was doing it.

those last two lines don’t really work, do they.

mark: a word of advice on the fanfic/Cloud. don’t forget that Cloud is only a guitarist to begin with in YOUR story, there’s nothing to be beholden to, there’s no precedent in any of the official media as far as i know. i know you want to make Cloud an awesome guitarist, but so are you, so i think as far as your story goes you’re hitting the spot. he’s as good as he needs to be. what would be cool is if you purposely made mistakes because Cloud is still learning!

ross, thanks for the encouragement. sometimes I worry about doing the characters a disservice. and it’s definitely weird writing cloud where’s he not just about being the strongest fighter, although I guess he was in zack’s shadow for some time. but I guess it wouldn’t be an interesting story if everything came too easy. but yeah, hopefully you like the way I incorporate vocals and find a singer for cloud’s band.
and I’d think you’d recognize dermot mulroney if you saw him. he plays sort of the rebel in survival quest and I’ll post some sweet screen grabs when I post a review.
yeah, those last two lines definitely are a little weird. you don’t have the rhyme there but it’s not too bad because the last line you expect. I don’t think zach’s a crappy maniac but I wonder how he got this song written about him

totally never seen Dermot Mulroney before. i looked through his entire filmography and i’ve never seen any of them, hehheh. Survival Quest sounds pretty good though, and i like the other Don Coscarelli movies i’ve seen (Phantasm, Bubba Ho-Tep, etc.).
i think we did the Crappy Maniac song just because the Lego Maniac commercials were big at the time, and Zach had the simple misfortune of having the same name as the Zack kid in the ads, so it was a ripe opportunity since Zach always got the brunt of our jokes.
and i think it was “crappy” just because Legos are awesome, so what’s not awesome? crap!

surprised you haven’t seen young guns. although that’s not really representative. he seems to be in lots of dramas.
