(I apologize for contributing yet another probably joyless political post to Roaring Shark, but hey, that’s how I roll…)

The big story of the day out here in California is the state Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Proposition 8, a ballot measure restricting marriage to heterosexual couples (or “defending traditional marriage,” depending on your point of view).  Prop. 8 passed with approximately 52% of public support in last November’s election. 

On the one hand, I’m disappointed by the court’s decision, since I support extending the right to marry to same-sex couples, and since I believe that the ability of all consenting adults to enter into monogamous, publicly recognized unions regardless of sexual orientation constitutes a fundamental right.  And no, civil unions are not, for me anyway, an acceptable substitute.

I realize I’m probably the only person on here who actually watches American Idol, but in case you didn’t know – there was a little shock on the internet when the winner was chosen.

Friday face offs has been falling off recently. I’ve got something to make life a little better for you (not much, xDD).

Don’t want to spoil it

I have to confess, I never actually finished playing Final Fantasy VII. I just got bored I guess. My personal take, the first death of cait sith had more of an impact than the death of aeris. 0_o

Anyway, it’ll seem strange then for me to call Final Fantasy VII Advent Children the greatest movie every made.

Here goes,

• You can watch it instantly on netflix.
• Even though the dialog is bad in some places, or doesn’t really make sense, you assume that there was something lost in translating to english.
• The animation is pretty breathtaking, and it seems like there are moments designed to show off certain things they can render. That wolf’s fur, close up tifa’s gloves.
• All the party members from the game appear.
• Cloud is brooding for a lot of the movie.
• The AMVs are pretty good.
• I’d rather watch a square cgi movie than a pixar cgi movie.
• The motorcycle ride at the end credits.
• Tifa sports some pretty nice converse.
